Matt Van Hiel is a percussionist, vocalist, composer and songwriter best known for his ability to adapt to multiple situations. Originally from the Chicagoland area, his influences span various musical genres, including rock, funk, jazz, and country. Matt has performed all over the US and Europe as both a drummer and a bandleader. After high school, he attended the music program at the University of North Texas and, during that 4 year period, was mentored by such notables as Ed Soph, Peter Erskine, Jose Aponte, and Poovalur Sriji. Matt graduated from North Texas with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. He now resides in Denton, TX, composing and performing various genres of music.
